Questions And Answers

What size wine bottles will fit in a Modularack wine rack?

Most standard 750ml wine bottles will fit into our Modularack wine racks and Vinrack. We also have three custom sizes available on request for magnum bottles:
- 1,200mm wide holds 10 magnum bottles
- 911mm wide holds 7 magnum bottles
- 660mm wide holds 5 magnum bottles
These magnum champagne wine rack layers will fit onto our normal Modularack layers. The above three sizes are the only champagne wine rack sizes available.

How high can I stack the Modularack system?

Many customers build Modularack to their roof. Our wine rack dimensions can be found on the dimensions page which illustrates the wine bottle rack dimensions up to 18 layers high (most people roof height). We recommend fixing a light L-shaped bracket to secure the wine racks to a wall if you’re building over 12 layers high. This is more for piece of mind. Once filled with wine Modularack becomes quite a sturdy unit.

Will Modularack hold Champagne bottles?

Most standard 750ml wine bottles will fit into our Modularack and Vinrack wine bottle racks. We also have three custom dimensions available on request for magnum bottles:
- 1,200mm wide holds 10 magnum bottles
- 911mm wide holds 7 magnum bottles

Should I anchor the wine rack to a wall?

This will depend on how high you build your wine bottle racks and the area you’re placing them. We would recommend securing your wine rack to the wall with a light L-shaped bracket (available from all hardware stores) if you are building over 12 layers high. We have never had an issue with our wine racks warping or collapsing, it is more for your peace of mind. You’re welcome to secure to the wall for any of our wine bottle rack dimensions.

What direction will the wine bottles be resting in on the rack?

Wine bottles will lie horizontally on our Australian made wine rack to keep the cork completely moist. This is important, as it will minimise the occurrence of corkage. A cork will dry, deteriorate and over time shrink if it is left cellared in an upright position. Cellaring a bottle upright will allow air into the wine and oxidise the wine. Bottles placed in our wooden wine rack allow easy access to each and every bottle. Facing the wine label up on our wine rack will also allow you to easily check for sediment build up, helpful when decanting wine. You will be able to pull each bottle out with ease to check what you have available to drink.
